Audio visualizer with Oscilloscope

I was always fascinated by visualizing audio in real time on my website. During the last weekend - while working on the 3d file veiewer with Three.js - I got the idea to create an interactive oscilloscope-like visualizer that reacts to music files. When starting today in the morning I had no idea how to realize it. Fortunately, with guidance from the GenAI chatbot, I managed to implement a circular Lissajous visualizer with glowing axes, integrated file selection next to the play button, and a dynamic display of the audio title beneath the oscilloscope. Now - 2 hours later - I have an MVP that combines audio interaction, real-time visualization, and stylish CSS effects in a compact, interactive interface.
Three.JS 3D model Viewer

I was always curious about implementing three.js in projects on my website. I tried to learn it with three.js journey. However - because of lack of time - I struggled to learn the basics while other projects had a higher priority. Fortunatelly, due to a little support from ChatGPT/GROK, I made some good progress and implemented a 3D file viewer for my 3D models.
Shadertoy Integration

Thanks to GROK and ChatGP I finally figured out how to use SDF code examples from Shadertoy on my website. As a demonstrator I took a hopping, bunny-like yellow character from the Shadertoy page and integrated. With the help of GROK, I replaced the static camera with an interactive one. The OrbitControls now allow the view to change when the mouse button is held and the mouse is moved (based on a dummy perspective camera for the controls, while the shader itself uses an orthographic camera). I kept the original camera logic but combined it with user interaction.

In concept art, understanding physical fundamentals in how air flow interacts with different shapes and surfaces is crucial for depicting dynamic environments and motion. This includes capturing the transition from smooth, laminar flow to chaotic, turbulent flow, which adds realism, credibility and depth to the portrayal of natural forces and their impact on various elements in a scene.
Tokyo Vending Machine Mania

"Tokyo Vending Machine Mania" is a simulation game set in late 1980s Tokyo, where players become top vending machine operators by strategically expanding their machine networks and product lines. Featuring a mix of real-time strategy and RPG elements, the game offers a colorful, humorous experience with exaggerated characters and quirky dialogue, presented in minimalist pixel graphics and an upbeat soundtrack.

"Metal Fear" is one of my favorite projects. It draws inspiration from industrial design and concept art aesthetics found in the Metal Gear IP. This project focuses on modeling hard surface models with distinct shapes and imbuing these models with a fearsome appearance through specific design elements. Technically, this project is a successor to the "Mech Warrior" project. All models and renders featured in this project were created using the free 3D voxel graphics software Magicavoxel by Ephtracy. Post-processing was done with Photoshop.

Zdog isn't a real 3D engine. It renders geometrical descritions of primitive shapes - like 2D projections - to canvas and svg. It isn't possible to apply textures, lighting and shading to the primitive shapes. Also well known features like Boolean operators or extrusion isn't possible with this library. However, compared to complex 3D engines like Three,js, Zdog has some advantages for web dev. Zdog engine is lightweight (less than 30kB). It isn't dependent on polygons (and the accompanied disadvantages) and renders always sharp vector graphics (svg) on the screen like Adobe Illustrator or Affinity Designer.

... work buy consume die inform feed control feed ... this is a design reload of my 1st try to adapt the original slogan and concept design of The Designers Republic from Sheffield (UK). Some people accept/ understand them, some people hate them. QR Codes are an established design element in the Human Machine Interface (HMI) context. In this concept I used QR codes heavily to describe the message behind the design. Without a device with a camera and an appropriate softzware to interpret the QR codes it is not possible to understand the message behind the design.

Drops of Life is a tiny collection of 9 voxel concept artworks that I made on a daily basis between 29th of October and 6th of November in 2021. The idea behind Drops of Life was to use minimalistic shapes (low dimension voxel scales) in combination with advanced materials settings and a reduced color palette. All models and renders featured in this project were made in free 3d graphic software Magicavoxel by Ephtracy. Post-processing was made with 2D applications like Photoshop.
Mech Warrior

Within the Mech Warrior games, gamers take control of a single battle mech and combat other battle mechs, tanks, infantry, and more, from within the cockpit of their machine. This small series was a good playground for getting warm with modelling objects with defined surface transitions as a prerequsite marching cubes rendering. All models and renders were made in free 3d graphic software Magicavoxel by Ephtracy.

This was the 1st and last time I participated on a professionel industrial design competition. I designed this concept in May 2012 for Michelin Challenge Design. I really don't remember the submission theme. But I know that I failed to reach the treshold for reaching the top 10. All 3D modell in this project were designed in Siemens NX6 professional 3D CAD software.

After a year I thought about recycling the "Neo Retro Wave" models in a different project. Possible ideas were [1] low-poly re-design in Blender software, [2] voxel graphics racing scene video, [3] CD cover design (adaption of Ridghe Racer Type4), [4]tech demo in Three.js. I decided to do a CD cover design because all other ideas would accompany with too much work at the moment.

The "Status Grid" is a graphical tool to track and visualize the status of project artefacts. The design of the status grid follows the "less is more" principle. It shows only the significant parameters that describe the project progress and product maturity while making efficient use of geometrical space. The early prototype of the status grid was a by-product that evolved from my computer graphics generation activities.

Floating Islands

Calmness is the 2nd entry of the Floating Islands collection. This artwork represents a calm and peaceful place in the sky. This rocky island in the clouds is covered with dense ground vegetation (sun flowers and corn fields) and has some complex trees on it. In the center of that floating island is an old farm house and a pond which consists of a higher and lower part. From technical point of view this is the most complex scene I've ever did. You need to zoom-in to realize that it is made of voxels. Over the time I modified the scene by adding an underground entrance and landing place for a hot-air balloon.

8-Bit Retro features voxel graphic interpretations of 100 great inventions, iconic designs and historical moments from 1901 to 2000. All models and renders were made in free 3d graphic software Magicavoxel by Ephtracy. From the design perspective, the overal goal is to represent real world objects with a minimum amount of voxels. I wish you great joy during the time travel with the 8-Bit Retro.

Back in 2018 I brainstormed about a 3D jump'n'run concept like Super Mario Bros. in a voxel or low poly environment. Because voxel graphics were new for me and had that special retro charme I decided to build the concept on voxel graphics. Solaris project was inspired by Stanisław Lem's "Solaris" novel. The plot is about a crew of scientists on a research station who attempt to understand an extraterrestrial intelligence, which takes the form of a vast ocean on the titular alien planet. All models and renders were made in free 3d graphic software Magicavoxel by Ephtracy.
